The year is 1953, and Margaret Johnson is on vacation with her daughter Clara in Italy. Margaret is taken back to days when she visited the country on her honeymoon, while Clara finds herself in a sudden romance with a charming young man named Fabrizio. But a secret both women carry may prevent young love from blossoming, and both will soon make a series of life-changing discoveries about love, identity, holding on, and letting go.
