The Classic American Comedy

Before it became the classic movie starring Jimmy Stewart, Mary Chase’s hilarious and endearing comedy HARVEY was a Broadway hit and winner of the Pulitzer Prize. Elwood P. Dowd is the nicest guy in town, but his best friend is becoming a problem. His long-suffering sister and embarrassed niece have had enough of Elwood’s peculiar friendship, and are determined to solve the problem once and for all. A brilliant send-up of conformity, psychoanalysis, and the frantic pace of modern life, HARVEY is a comedy that just might make a believer out of you!

“Critic’s Choice! Even though it’s a laugh-filled comedy, Harvey won a Pulitzer Prize for drama, and Lamb’s staging of the Mary Chase classic makes you understand why. Director Robert Smyth and a gem of a cast, led by David Cochran Heath and Kerry Meads, get to the heart of the play.”

- San Diego Union-Tribune

“A fresh take on Harvey, thanks to director Robert Smyth’s clever interpretation and David Cochran Heath’s sweet, guileless performance as Elwood P. Dowd. Harvey may be funny and lighthearted, but Mary Chase’s writing is quite clever, and under Smyth’s guiding hand, the play can be appreciated on an entirely new level at Lamb’s.”

- North County Times

“Fine ensemble work, and David Cochran Heath is splendid as the vivial, egalitarian Elwood P. Dowd.”

- San Diego Reader

“A comedy classic for Lamb’s Players!”
